Catch Up Curriculum
We are absolutely determined that no child's education will suffer as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. This situation was not the fault of the children (or anyone else!) and it is not fair that their future could be jeopardised as a result of it.
Since returning to school in March 2021, school has worked hard to support children in closing gaps caused by disruption to face-to-face learning. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Accurate assessment of gaps
- Quality first teaching targeted to meet the needs of children
- Extra support in every class from skilled teaching assistants
- Extra, small group and individual targeted tuition through an academic mentor (up to July 2021)
- Extra, small group and individual targeted tuition through temporary, part-time employment of a highly skilled teacher (up to July 2021)
- Individualised practise through an adaptive maths programme (Freckle) linked to maths assessments
- Accelerated Reader to promote reading skills
- Booster classes outside of school hours
- Times Tables Rockstars
- Focus on character development through Commando Jo
- Focus on well-being and mental health through Happy Centred Schools
- Focus on well-being, resilience and independence through Forest Schools
